Alternate Route Information
If you are headed up I 20 toward Tuscaloosa or Birmingham Alabama, the best bypass we have found is to run up route 165 into Arkansas and take route 82 east to Tuscaloosa. This route bypasses this Louisianna scale and two Mississippi scales.
You take exit 118 B for route 165 toward Bastrop (away from Columbia). You’ll be on route 165 for 75.5 miles until you come to the town of Montrose. Route 165 is a good 2 lane/55 mph road. When you are in Montrose you will follow signs for route 82 east. You’ll see the overpass for route 82 and you will turn right onto the accessway before the overpass. You’ll go up to the stop sign and turn right onto route 82. You will be on route 82 for 251.5 miles. It’s a long way but it brings you into Tuscaloosa, Alabama. If you prefer, when you get to Tuscaloosa, you can take route 69 south which turns into I 359 south rather than taking route 82 all the way to I 20. - EB
