Alternate Route Information
THIS ROUTE HAS A TEXAS CHECK STATION, A NEW MEXICO CHECK STATION AND A PORT OF ENTRY ON IT- DOT is unlikely to set up in the Texas cand New Mexico check station sand the port of entry is likely to be closed- though they will run a 24-hour shop if they are open.
In Amarillo, take I 27 south to the exit for route 60 west. You’ll take 60 west through the town of Hereford all the way to the New Mexico Line. The New Mexico Port of Entry is in Texico just after you cross into New Mexico. Once you are past the Texico/Clovis Port of Entry, you can cut back north to I 40 easily on route 84 which will put you out in Santa Rosa.
