Alternate Route Information
This route takes you up into the mountains and has about 6 miles of dirt road- the dirt road is plowed in winter but is only 1.5 lanes wide in some places. Follow at your own risk.
Take exit 3 in Wyoming and turn left at the light. Go down past the Flying J and cross under the freeway overpass. When you cross under the freeway overpass, you’ll go another 15.9 miles to the left turn at county route 153. There is a sign there that indicates a left turn to go to Coalville and there are signs for Merit Energy Company.
This road will turn into a dirt road right away. You’ll pass the Coyote Creek Compressor Station and you’ll follow the dirt road around for about 6 miles. There are dirt roads that turn off the road, don’t turn off the dirt road- the side roads are mostly marked as “end state maintenance.” When you come back to paved road, you’ll go another .5 miles and come to a yield sign. You’ll go to the right at the yield sign- there are signs for Coalville, Utah, before the yield. The road you turn right on is the road that will take you all the way to Coalville, Utah. You’ve got 23.4 miles to go. When you come in to Coalville, you’ll left onto Main Street- this is one block before the dead end. You’ll go just .4 miles to the right turn to the road that takes you to the ramp for I 80. You’ll be at exit 162 just east of Parley.
